Our week....

I've been a bad blogger this week...oops....here is a run-down of what Avery has been up to....

***Avery had her 6 year old appointment on Monday. Yes, the dreaded "kindergarten shots" appointment. I made daddy come with us, which also meant that Liv was along for the appt too. Surprisingly, Avery has gained a couple pounds. She now weighs......35 lbs! :) WHOO HOO!! She's now up in the 3rd % for her age! She is 25% for her height, so she's still managing to stay on the charts!

She did pretty well with the shots. She had 4 of them, plus a finger poke. The nurses (all 3 of them that helped to give the shots) said that she was really good. I can only imagine what they go through having to give shots to kids! Imagine kids who are royally ticked off, and in the 100% for their weight....try holding them down! geez....

**Avery started her "level 1" swimming lesson through the park and rec department. The best part...she's the only one in level 1, which means she gets ONE ON ONE attention from her teacher! We have had 4 lessons, and so far she has not improved one bit. I'm getting a bit frustrated, but I'm sure it will come with time.... Here are some photos of her in her class...

"C'mon Avery....try to blow bubbles...look how fun it is", says Matt, her teacher.

"Umm, it looks like fun, I'll try. How 'bout I just do pretend bubbles instead?", says Avery.

"Mom, take a picture of me to show your blog friends that I got my hair wet today!"

Bravo to Avery for getting her shots like a brave girl! I used to work for a medical clinic and one time there was a girl the same age as Avery that needed ONE shot. She attacked her mother and the nurses with her fingernails and drew blood on everybody. She absolutely had to have the shot, so the doctor had them wrap the girl up in a towel straightjacket style so they could give her the shot. When they finally got the shot into her, she started laughing and saying that it didn't hurt. Yikes!

How brave is Avery!!! Pretty brave with all those shots. I hate shots. My 10 yr old son loves him, he's VERY weird.
And you know Mom, she'll get the hang of swim lessons. At least she is continuing to get one on one even if you didn't plan that. She got her hair wet and she has a really cute teacher. In no time she will be swimming.!!

I tried to get Levi to swim for the last 4 years, I always had to have him in my arms or he would freak out. Then what do you know two weeks ago at my dads, he starts jumping off the diving board. (with a float suit on) but this boy wont even let me wash his hair without me physically holding him down.) Kids are weird some times, they do when they are ready, dont get discouraged.

My oldest wouldn't do swim lessons either the first time we took her. She wouldn't even get her face wet. I took her to a swim school and we've been there for 5 years now. They have a whole different approach then the red cross program. (which I used to teach swimming lessons through) All of my children love swimming even my 4 year old. We tell him to blow bubbles and they call it "eyes wet bubbles." They practice in the bath tub with goggles on. I'd see if she would wear goggles to boost her confidence a little. It's worth a shot. :)
