Sometimes....just sometimes....I wish there were more hours in a day...
Lucy came over tonight for our 2nd session with Avery. She was very impressed that Avery is now able to eat hot dogs and carrots that are in different shapes!
Our challenge for this week, was to face a chicken nugget (which in the past has sent Avery running to her room)...
Lucy brought her friend "Yummy" to our house tonight.

(these are 2 different videos, by the way)
imagine what it's like when there is REALLY something to cry about!
The curlers are being returned tomorrow....
Avery woke up this morning saying, "I changed my mind...I don't want a hair cut now."
Nice...real nice Avery. Way to be indecisive...
I told her to go to school and think about it, and then we'd decide later. I realized that she was a tad scared to go because I told her that she would get her hair washed in a cool sink. After she realized that she didn't have to do this part, she was back to wanting to go...
The more I thought about it, I didn't want much of a change for her. It has seriously taken over 5 years to get to the length it is, and I didn't want to start all over again. Luckily Avery agreed that we just needed a 'trim'...
Avery was so funny during the hair cut. She just sat there and didn't say a thing. It's funny how she can turn on and off her funny personality!
Jen, the hair dresser, just trimmed it up a tad, and put some layers in it so it doesn't look thin. When she was cutting it, I sure thought "Man...I could SO do that at home for free", but then realized that there was no way I could and have her go out of the house again...
$15 later, and a great "first" for Avery, and there you have it.... (it doesn't look much different at all)
We came home, and I had to take the mini curling iron to it (of course!)
Our weekends have been busy lately, or so they have seemed. Both of us take turns working, then watching our girls, etc, not to mention being sick too!
We both are looking forward to this Saturday. I have this weekend off, so we are going to pay some much needed attention to the yard and hopefully put up our Christmas lights (before it gets too cold here!!!) We might even pick out the paint colors for the girls' room re-do! My parents are coming up here for Thanksgiving, and we're going to try to tackle painting the room then!!!! It's going to be sad to say goodbye to the fun walls that Avery has now, but we need to have something a little more "attractive", in case the day ever comes where we need to move.
If we're lucky, maybe even try to take Christmas pictures of the girls outside. It is supposed to be 50 on Saturday, so we'll see!
Avery told me Tuesday night that her hair is getting too long. Um, what? Yup, she thinks it's just getting longer and longer, and she needs it cut.
Avery was 5 in July, and she STILL has never had a hair cut. I'm trimmed her bangs, and evened out the ends here and there, but never a cut.
Her hair grows very slow, which I think is because of her milk allergy. It's taken over 5 years to grow the head of hair she currently has...
So, being the impulsive mom that I am, I called and we have a hair cut scheduled for Wednesday at 2:30!
I'm still not sure about this, but hey...what's the worst that could happen, right? :)
I will be standing next to her at all times and taking pictures, so you all will be able to 'be' there with us.... :)
Wish us luck!
P.s. I am fully aware that I am writing this post at 12:30 in the morning. I have been crazy busy with bloggie makeovers, so I work late at night on them. I think I now have the title as a Work At Home Mom
.....going to sleep now......
She's got her shades, a mini magnadoodle, snacks...boy, is she ready!!!
Daddy, opening the door for her...what a gentleman...
They had a great time at the recital, and I heard all about it when they got home!
Eating is going better for Avery. Hot dogs in triangles and squares and half circles no longer make her want to cry and throw things at me...
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to make rounds tomorrow!
Holy Moly! I seriously can't believe that I've had 500 things to write about! Please, take time to upload a picture and sign my guestbook in honor of my 500th post!
My Dear Avery,
idea stolen from my friend, Jamie November 1st is the PERFECT day to bring out the Christmas Music! Hope you enjoy!
P.S. we're still surrounded by snot...icky and sick still
Avery's sickness has spread. Oh my, has is spread. I suppose this happens in every house when one has yucky germs. Ya wanna know how it went? Avery gave it to me, then Daddy got it, and today Liv got it. She's got a constant stream of snot coming out of her nose, and with her being on the move all-the-time (yes, even when sick) it's hard to keep on top of it.
I was able to take a nap (with a 5 year old opening the window, shining light on me, and trying to tickle me) today, and PG also was able to come home and take a rest. Why is it that when we adults get sick, all we want to do is sleep, and our kids just keep on going. Liv JUST took her first nap of the day, and it's about 7 pm! Avery's been going all day long too (and day 1 of hot dogs in squares has not been good AT ALL).
Ya know when your body is so sore and achy that the hair on your eyebrows hurts? Yeah, that's me right now...
Darn that preschool and their germs...... :)
Avery started having private speech/food therapy at our home tonight. Our insurance will not cover anything having to do with her food-allergy-asthma-speech issues, so we are having someone come into our home instead. Our therapist is named Lucy, and so far, so good...
Tonight Lucy wanted to come over and watch Avery eat. Avery pulled out all the tricks she does at meal time, so Lucy sure got to see my little non-eater.
So, our assignment for our next session: Cut up Avery's food in different shapes and sizes. I think I can live with that...
We'll just see how this goes now...
I was hoping my camera would capture the beautiful flowers, and it sure did!
My children rarely get sick. I try VERY hard to maintain this. However, with the germs of school, Avery manged to get sick.
perfect timing....
Sunday was going to be another "marathon day" as I call them, where I was busy doing tasks from 9 until 1 at the church. Crazy how things change when one of my babies is sick...
I guess PG will have to eat extra tator-tot casserole at the pot luck for me, and I'll have to settle for re-heated pizza.....
