Whew...

10:59 PM

I am officially calling myself a "work at home mom", or "WAHM" as they say. I get a big ol' smile on my face as I look at all the work I am doing, have done, and will be doing on blog pimping. I just got done counting, and I discovered that I have done 56 makeovers! I am in process with about 8 others, so I think that gives me my new title... I am so happy to be able to work AT HOME while I watch my girls grow up. There is NOTHING else I would rather be doing! (besides sitting out on the beach with my feet in the sand laying out while the cabana boy is fetching me a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri)

Sometimes....just sometimes....I wish there were more hours in a day...

Look what Livvie learned how to do today!!!!

9:10 PM

YEA for sippy cups!!!
She's a tad proud of herself, don't ya think?
**in other not so great, sad, awful, horrible, totally sucky news.... I would ask for prayer for a college girl that goes to our church. She received news on Saturday, that her father fell off a ladder while hanging Christmas lights, and landed on his head. He broke his neck, and injured his brain/skull so badly that they are going to be taking him off the breathing machines tonight. It's just so very sad...he is(was) 46.

**UPDATE...he did pass away at 3 am on Wednesday morning... Her name is Shasta...if you could send a prayer or 2 up for her family today, that'd be great!

Food Therapy, Session 2

6:12 PM

Lucy came over tonight for our 2nd session with Avery. She was very impressed that Avery is now able to eat hot dogs and carrots that are in different shapes!

Our challenge for this week, was to face a chicken nugget (which in the past has sent Avery running to her room)...

Lucy brought her friend "Yummy" to our house tonight.

Bloggie friends, meet "Yummy"

This is a swallowing puppet...yup, a swallowing puppet. Yummy loves to try new foods, so she came with Lucy tonight so Avery could give her some new food.

Avery was brave enough to cut up a chicken nugget, to smell it, touch it, an feed it to Yummy. She didn't, however, make it "disappear" as Yummy was able to.

Our task this week is to put a chicken nugget on Avery's plate with each meal. This will hopefully get her familiar with it so she'll be ready to try it one of these years!

And, get this.....Yummy gets to stay with us....at our house! Avery is so excited! Now, at each meal, she gets to feed Yummy too!

Anxious to see how these next 2 weeks go....

Ya wanna good laugh?

6:56 PM

I thought it was a good idea. Instead of all the work I do curling Avery's hair with a curling iron, why not buy foam curlers, and just put them in after her bath?
Well, here's what happened

+

which looks a lot like

The curlers are being returned tomorrow....

9:38 PM

Avery woke up this morning saying, "I changed my mind...I don't want a hair cut now."

Nice...real nice Avery. Way to be indecisive...

I told her to go to school and think about it, and then we'd decide later. I realized that she was a tad scared to go because I told her that she would get her hair washed in a cool sink. After she realized that she didn't have to do this part, she was back to wanting to go...

The more I thought about it, I didn't want much of a change for her. It has seriously taken over 5 years to get to the length it is, and I didn't want to start all over again. Luckily Avery agreed that we just needed a 'trim'...

Avery was so funny during the hair cut. She just sat there and didn't say a thing. It's funny how she can turn on and off her funny personality!

Jen, the hair dresser, just trimmed it up a tad, and put some layers in it so it doesn't look thin. When she was cutting it, I sure thought "Man...I could SO do that at home for free", but then realized that there was no way I could and have her go out of the house again...

$15 later, and a great "first" for Avery, and there you have it.... (it doesn't look much different at all)

We came home, and I had to take the mini curling iron to it (of course!)

Looking forward

8:38 PM

Our weekends have been busy lately, or so they have seemed. Both of us take turns working, then watching our girls, etc, not to mention being sick too!

We both are looking forward to this Saturday. I have this weekend off, so we are going to pay some much needed attention to the yard and hopefully put up our Christmas lights (before it gets too cold here!!!) We might even pick out the paint colors for the girls' room re-do! My parents are coming up here for Thanksgiving, and we're going to try to tackle painting the room then!!!! It's going to be sad to say goodbye to the fun walls that Avery has now, but we need to have something a little more "attractive", in case the day ever comes where we need to move.

If we're lucky, maybe even try to take Christmas pictures of the girls outside. It is supposed to be 50 on Saturday, so we'll see!

DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN SEE THIS MOVIE

12:46 PM

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released December 7, 2007. This movie is based on the first book of a trilogy by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about killing God."The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the the movie and that the children will want thebooks for Christmas. The books are appearing in local stores in cheap paperback editions as well as in a beautiful trade paperback collection volume. The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, KevinBacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that word gets out to warn parents to avoid this movie.

You want to do what????

12:31 AM

Avery told me Tuesday night that her hair is getting too long. Um, what? Yup, she thinks it's just getting longer and longer, and she needs it cut.

Avery was 5 in July, and she STILL has never had a hair cut. I'm trimmed her bangs, and evened out the ends here and there, but never a cut.

Her hair grows very slow, which I think is because of her milk allergy. It's taken over 5 years to grow the head of hair she currently has...

So, being the impulsive mom that I am, I called and we have a hair cut scheduled for Wednesday at 2:30!

I'm still not sure about this, but hey...what's the worst that could happen, right? :)

I will be standing next to her at all times and taking pictures, so you all will be able to 'be' there with us.... :)

Wish us luck!

P.s. I am fully aware that I am writing this post at 12:30 in the morning. I have been crazy busy with bloggie makeovers, so I work late at night on them. I think I now have the title as a Work At Home Mom

.....going to sleep now......

Feelin' better...

10:29 PM

Our house of germs is slowly getting better. This nasty-whatever it is bug- that we all had, has left it's mark on our family. PG is still fighting sinus problems, I still have a cough, Avery is fine, and Livvie has a day or two left of feeling icky...
The following photos are of this last week.
We finally let Avery go back to school on Wednesday for her Celebrate the USA party! Here she is all decked out to par-ty!
Being sick doesn't slow down my girls...Ballerina time courtesy of an Angelina Ballerina video...
I stayed home from church AGAIN with the girls today. I just couldn't share Livvie's germs with the other kiddos...
Avery and Daddy went on a date this afternoon to one of our college friend's Senior Recital. She got all excited that I was letting her wear her blue flower dress (also known as the Amish dress)!

She's got her shades, a mini magnadoodle, snacks...boy, is she ready!!!

Daddy, opening the door for her...what a gentleman...

They had a great time at the recital, and I heard all about it when they got home!

Eating is going better for Avery. Hot dogs in triangles and squares and half circles no longer make her want to cry and throw things at me...

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to make rounds tomorrow!

500th POST!!!!!!

11:57 PM

Holy Moly! I seriously can't believe that I've had 500 things to write about! Please, take time to upload a picture and sign my guestbook in honor of my 500th post!

12:13 PM

My Dear Avery,

6 years ago, mommy and daddy found out we were pregnant! What a surprise you were! We were so very excited! The nine months we waited to meet you went by very slowly! But, on July 12th, at 9:08 pm, you made your daddy and I the happiest people on earth. idea stolen from my friend, Jamie

11:03 AM

I haven't been here, doing this......

because I've been here, doing this....
Ach-OOOOOOOOOOO, cough, sniffle, ugh,
My family is all doing this too...sure is a long 'cold'...

Oh yes....it's time!

3:39 PM

November 1st is the PERFECT day to bring out the Christmas Music! Hope you enjoy!

P.S. we're still surrounded by snot...icky and sick still

One visitor...

11:34 PM

We turned our light off tonight, and just sneezed and shared germs all night. Halloween came and went without much commotion here at our house. I thought we wouldn't have any visitors, but I guess I was wrong. At 8:15 a middle aged mentally handicapped older man wearing a blue Zoro costume rang the doorbell...hope he's okay with the Curious George fruit snack I gave him...

This story is NOTHING compared to Jennifer's trick or flash story...go check it out!

a-CHOO, sniff, cough....

7:11 PM

Avery's sickness has spread. Oh my, has is spread. I suppose this happens in every house when one has yucky germs. Ya wanna know how it went? Avery gave it to me, then Daddy got it, and today Liv got it. She's got a constant stream of snot coming out of her nose, and with her being on the move all-the-time (yes, even when sick) it's hard to keep on top of it.

I was able to take a nap (with a 5 year old opening the window, shining light on me, and trying to tickle me) today, and PG also was able to come home and take a rest. Why is it that when we adults get sick, all we want to do is sleep, and our kids just keep on going. Liv JUST took her first nap of the day, and it's about 7 pm! Avery's been going all day long too (and day 1 of hot dogs in squares has not been good AT ALL).

Ya know when your body is so sore and achy that the hair on your eyebrows hurts? Yeah, that's me right now...

Darn that preschool and their germs...... :)

Food Therapy, Session 1

7:11 PM

Avery started having private speech/food therapy at our home tonight. Our insurance will not cover anything having to do with her food-allergy-asthma-speech issues, so we are having someone come into our home instead. Our therapist is named Lucy, and so far, so good...

Tonight Lucy wanted to come over and watch Avery eat. Avery pulled out all the tricks she does at meal time, so Lucy sure got to see my little non-eater.

So, our assignment for our next session: Cut up Avery's food in different shapes and sizes. I think I can live with that...

We'll just see how this goes now...

appreciated...

4:36 PM

Did you know that October is Pastor Appreciation Month? Being a Pastor's wife, I know what it takes for a church to function. It's a lot of crazy hours, long nights, and spur of the moment calls that have to be dealt with. (Not to mention taking out the garbage and sweeping up dead ladybugs) I will be the first to admit, I have not adapted well to the demands of "pastor's-wife-hood". I have high expectations of my husband, and his involvement with our girls. Even though I know that the work he's doing for the church is very important, I still demand that he puts our family's priorities on the top of his list as well. This causes PLENTY arguments between us...

I could go on and on about the life behind the "Pastor's family", but I'll just leave it at this. If you have a church that you attend regularly, please drop your Pastor a note, an email, a card, or something, just to tell them that you appreciate them.

Our church did that very thing for my husband today. And, even though he doesn't do his job for recognition at all, I think he feels refreshed...so, THANK YOU to our church for surprising him with this!

I was hoping my camera would capture the beautiful flowers, and it sure did!

SICK...

12:26 AM

My children rarely get sick. I try VERY hard to maintain this. However, with the germs of school, Avery manged to get sick.

perfect timing....

Sunday was going to be another "marathon day" as I call them, where I was busy doing tasks from 9 until 1 at the church. Crazy how things change when one of my babies is sick...

I guess PG will have to eat extra tator-tot casserole at the pot luck for me, and I'll have to settle for re-heated pizza.....

Back from the dr's office!

1:45 PM

Livvie just had her 1 year well baby check up! 4 shots, and a blood draw...ouch!

Here are her stats, along with Avery's when she was 1 also...soooo similar!
Livvie............................. Avery
18 lb 13 oz...................... 18 lb 13 oz
29 inches ..........................29 1/4 inches
head: 18 inches................... (don't know Avery's)
So, my gals are sure on the small side. Liv is in the 15 % for her weight, the 50% for her height, but her head is in the 70%! I wonder when they're gonna get chubby like mommy and daddy! :)

Avery's School Pictures

10:21 PM

I guess I can't complain...She's smiling, and c'mon....I always think she's cute!
Avery's class picture! Look how small she is! I think she's probably even one of the oldest kiddos! She would have been eaten alive if she was in Kindergarten this year!

My 2 girls.....

1:35 AM

We went over to 'the gardens' today and took some more pictures in honor of the birthday girl!

10:28 PM

In case you don't want to watch the whole slide show, which I think you should :), here are the photos of Liv I have taken on the 24th of each month. How she has grown....

"For this child I prayed..." (1 Sam 1:27)
The Lord has blessed our family with you Liv.
You and your sister are our delight...

Livvie's Birthday Weekend!

10:21 PM

We all had such a fabulous time! It was great to see our families, and celebrate our little Livvie's first birthday! Here's another picture story for you...

Aunt Kathryn making Liv's cake!
Liv, all decked out in her birthday gear, while we're singing to her!
So, um, yeah....the cake wasn't a hit with her. She didn't know what to do, and didn't want anything to do with it...
BUT, I kept trying. After all, once she tasted it, she'd realize she loved it, right?

NOPE...no success with the cake!
On to opening Liv's presents! Avery was such a great help opening her gifts for her!
She got lots of goodies, and LOVED this singing chair thing!
Peek a boo Livvie!

Avery fell asleep after the FUN weekend with Mommy's family!

But, Livvie just kept on going..... and going.......
Sunday, was birthday party #2. Gavin's parents and his brother DJ and fiance Rachelle came and celebrated with us! We ate at Applebee's for lunch (YUMMY!!!)

Here's Livvie with her new fun learning book from DJ and Rachelle!Isn't this such a cute picture? ahhhhhhhhhh
We decided to try the cake thing again.... This time it went a little better. She still didn't want to touch it, but I put some of her little puffs on her high chair mixed in with the cake.

All of our company has left now, and we're back to having just the 4 of us here. We had such a fabulous time, and THANK YOU to all our wonderful family for making Livvie's birthday celebration so awesome!

Our Family pictures...

10:50 PM

My whole family hadn't been together in like 1 1/2 years, so it was about time to get some family photos! It took us 2 days, and over 200 photos, but I think we got some decent ones!

~We've had part 1 of Livvie's birthday party, and part 2 is on Sunday. I'll share all the photos then!

Hope you're all having a fantabulous weekend!!!!
