chocolate, rashes and doctors, OH MY!
9:19 PMWe just got home from an eventful night at the ER. Again, I'm ticked because our little town does NOT have an after hours care service, so we HAVE to go the ER with everything...ugh...
Anyhow, back to the story here at hand.
Avery had neighbor girl over, and they were just casually playing at the table. Avery said, "Mom...this chair feels sticky and slimy like a worm." So, I walk over, see that the chair is sticky, wiped off Avery's legs and arms, and the chair. I noticed she had a little brown chocolate on her arm, and I also wiped that off. She must have just bumped up to some chocolate smear on the table left by Liv or myself....
10 minutes later....Avery says, "Mom...I'm really itchy". I look at her, and no lie, I had to do a double take. Her arm was full of what I call "welts", and also the back of her left leg. I'm the sort of mom that freaks out, so I immediately got a wet washcloth and wrapped up her arm, got the girls in the van, and off to the ER we went.
They gave her a nice big dose of benadryl, and some prescription ointment, and we're back home. Whew....
She hasn't had a reaction like this since she was around a year old. It's just CRAZY that she can break out THAT much, from just chocolate touching her body...are you kidding me?
She is now fully bathed, gooed up with ointment, and off to bed. I pray this will not happen anytime soon again...
