I really don't want to be THAT mother....

11:32 PM

you know, the one that the teachers and school staff talk about when I'm not looking...

or the one that is a pain in the rear end, and they can't stand me...

yeah, I don't want to be that mom.

BUT....I just might be THAT mother...

You see, I have just come to learn that our town has open enrollment for the school district (at least, that's what I've heard). Avery will be going to Kindergarten in the fall (kill me now) and I want to make sure she is in the BEST school with the BEST teacher. After all, wouldn't you do the same?

So, instead of being the subdued mother who just accepts their child going to the school that is in their neighborhood, and the mother who is not specific about what teacher she wants for her child...I'm the opposite.

After all, I want Avery to have the best, and I'm doing this for her, right? (or is it for me?)

Gol...I'm annoying myself already.

So, here is my dilemma.

School A
*does not have a peanut allergy in the school
*in our neighborhood
*wonderful new playground
*older "looking" school
*heard good and bad things about it

School B
* claims to be a "peanut free school"
*not in our neighborhood
*very nice playground, with a huge lawn
*newer school in the district
*heard only good things about it.

Avery had kindergarten screening, and I registered her for School A, because it is in our neighborhood. Our neighbors told me about a really super nice teacher, and so I scribbled down on whatever paper I could, that I would like Avery to be in her class. Done, right? Um, no.....

2 weeks ago, while I was at work, one of the kindergarten teachers from School B came in. She is the sweetest thing. She and I have talked before, and you can just tell she's genuine, ya know? Whenever she comes into the store she's always using her own money to buy books for her class. She just seemed like the perfect fit for Avery (and me!). And, not only that, but I have met another one of the kindergarten teachers from School B, and she is just as wonderful!

So, I am going to turn into that mom on Monday. Yup, I'm going to call the school district office, and tell them that I would like to switch schools for Avery. Not only that, but in this district that supposedly doesn't offer "requests for teachers", I am going to do my darnedest to scratch the names of these 2 kindergarten teachers all over her new paperwork. There are 4 teachers at that school, so I have a 50% chance anyhow...

Whew....no comments needed on this one. I just want to remind myself how truly annoying that I am, and to what lengths I will go to make the best (I hope) decision for Avery (and me).....

Man, I sure hope the school district hasn't gotten wind of my blog....
