What was I thinking, I'm not sure...

8:50 PM

I was meaning to post this on Monday, but time seems to slip away from me these days...OOPS!

Monday was a day, for some reason, my logical rational thought process was missing...

That night, I thought....hmmm....why don't I teach Livvie how to use a spoon? That would be perfect, 'cause then I won't have to spoon feed her all the time! Great idea, right?

Wish I would have stopped there. Why I decided to give her carrots that were almost pure liquid is beyond me, but that's what I chose... Below is what transpired with the whole 'learning the spoon thing'...

Then, if that wasn't enough, Avery asked me to do something for her too....

Bring up her GIANT doll house and put it into their already jam packed room...

Avery can barely get into her bed, and I can barely squeeze myself between the house and Liv's dresser to change her. I wonder if that's why she has been wearing the same outfit a lot lately...

Anyhow, in other news....

Tuesday I went to the BIG town (ha ha) to go Christmas shopping. I dropped Avery off at school at 8:15, and off I went. I shopped, let me tell ya! But, the best part of the day....I went to Olive Garden....a-l-o-n-e, and ate a-l-o-n-e, and looked at no one, and had soup and salad a-l-o-n-e! It was wonderful, let me tell ya!

So, now it's Wednesday, and tomorrow Avery is Mary in the school play thing. She is very excited, and we are charging up our camera and video camera to get FULL coverage!

The girls are in bed, and PG and I are watching VH-1's 100 greatest songs of the 90's, and we are having so much fun!!!!

8:53 AM

(not really our car, just a photo lifted from the internet...although I wouldn't mind that adorable chain link fence in my driveway! :))It just hit me this morning....

As I was dropping Avery off to school, I looked around the parking lot at the cars surrounding me...

I was surrounded by SUV's and Mini Vans. My cute little 2000 Kia Sephia was in the minority!

We've had this car since February 2001, and it has been a great little car to us.

Did I ever tell ya? When we got pregnant with Livvie, we had 4 eggs release, so up until our 6th week of pregnancy, we didn't know how many babies we were going to have! We freaked out a bit, and almost got a van, but in the long run....we didn't need it!

I don't know what the point of this post is...I guess I just noticed how many "families" don't have 4 door cars anymore...

except us...we have 2 of them...

Breaking her down....

10:48 AM

Livvie has always been a child that will not soothe herself to sleep. She needs to be held until she falls asleep, or she just needs us to be "there" with her.

This last week, I have decided, that this child of mine needs to learn to go to sleep on her own. It has not been going great, but it has been going well. I am very surprised by that, I have to admit.

At nap times, and at bed time, I will put her in her crib...tired...but not asleep. She will scream and cry for a little while, but each time she cries less and less...

This is not a fun part of parenting. She is a very strong willed child, so I look forward to seeing if we can "break" her of her ways.....

Just don't tell her I'm doing this...

10:53 PM

It's such a fun time of the year...

Being sick last week, we found a channel that was very family friendly...ABC Family Channel! The great news is that they're doing this fun 25 days of Christmas thing, where they play Christmas movies all the time! We've had fun watching the old Christmas movies I watched as a kid, and some of the new ones, like Polar Express, have been on too!

What I wasn't expecting, is how quickly my little 5 year old daughter's brain hears and remembers things...

For example...

On the way home from church Sunday, she said to me, "Mom...I'm SO excited to watch "Holiday in Handcuffs" tonight!" Turns out, there was a fun TV movie that was advertised, and she picked up on it...She didn't watch it, in case you're wondering! (Even though it looked kinda cute...for grown ups!)

If that wasn't enough, this one is great....

Avery: "Mom....Next Saturday I'm going to watch the Snow globe show" (also a small TV movie on ABC Family that was being advertised).
Me: "Oh really?"
Avery: "Uh-uh...that's the one where she's stuck in a freakin' snow globe"...

yes, my innocent 5 year old said freakin'.....Again, overheard from a commercial! UGH!!!

ABC Family, we have really enjoyed your Christmas shows, but man oh man.....those commercials, I could do without!

1:57 PM

Avery's so excited.......wanna know why?

She gets to be MARY for her class' Christmas play!!!!
I could not be any more proud....
Oh....my little girl is going to be pregnant with the Messiah...

Happy Monday!

11:44 PM

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! We sure did! :)

Life is almost back to normal around here. Avery will go back to school tomorrow, and Daddy will also return to work. I worked today, and so far so good!

Funny thing tonight....Avery was telling Daddy the colors of the rainbow, and he didn't know them in order! I thought that was crazy....don't all teachers teach their kids that? I guess he must have skipped that day of kindergarten!

Christmas cards got off in the mail today! YIPPIE! I continue to enjoy getting all of yours! SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Last sick post....I promise...

12:32 AM

Well, Mr Flu finally made it's way into Gavin's stubborn body, so now our whole family has shared in this lovely gift.

There's nothing like having a Pastor for a husband, who gets sick at 6:30 Saturday night, and is supposed to preach in the morning....

I'll be heading to church tomorrow to see what our two fun "20 something" leaders decide to whip up!

You all better get out your Lysol and spray down your computer, even if you just LOOKED at my page in the past week....this flu is so potent, I'm sure it's somehow figured out how to get into your computer too!!!

Tis the season of giving.....

3:25 PM

Livvie has been gracious enough to share her flu with me...
Let's just hope Avery doesn't get it now....or Daddy...
Not only do I hate it when my kids are sick, but I hate it when I'm sick....especially THIS kind of sick....ugh.....

UPDATE:
Mr Flu is not being very nice to me at all...I have the chills, weak body, terrible cramps and back pain (from a certain monthly visitor I haven't had in nearly 2 years)... Not to mention how absolutely horrible it feels to puke (double digits). I can't get comfortable in any way, which is why I'm up at 1:30 AM. My back is killing me, and it reminds me of the pain I had with my kidney infection...
Oh, I've also been praying for the second coming.....
all-night-long......
Please pray for Avery.....If she gets this, it will take so much out of her little body. It would just be such drama, and I PRAY she doesn't get it. Also PG, too. He doesn't puke, so if he got this, he says he'd probably die... :)
Eat some chocolate for me today, as I'm sure I'll be snacking on the Pedi Pops and a nice glass of sprite.....

UPDATE #2:
Avery has it now...she has it all over her carpet......PLEASE pray for her and her little body. Lord, I hope PG doesn't get this...who is going to take care of us then?

9:32 PM

Livvie is back to her normal self now. It was some sort of 24 hour bug that is going around. Today was her first day back on solids, and we have yet to give her milk...that's for tomorrow...

hope you all are well!!!!!

P.S. Thanks for the Christmas cards y'all! I SO enjoy getting them, so thank you! I'll get mine off by Monday, hopefully!

sick, sick Livvie...

9:49 AM

threw up 7 times last night...
close to dehydration...
on the phone 2 times with the ER...
she has now been able to keep down water....
I hate it when my babies are sick......

The WEDDING!

10:22 PM

This will be, quite possibly, the l-o-n-g-e-s-t post I have ever done....geez.....lots of pictures, lots of stories!!!
FRIDAY
....personal Bridal Shower/lunch at a resturaunt.

Livvie loved the lingerie...

After the bridal shower, it was off to decorate the reception hall.
Here is DJ, the day before his wedding!!!

After the decorating, it was a mad dash to get to the rehearsal.
It was casual, so that was nice not to have to be all dressed up...

My gals, in matching clothes (of course) being wild in the church...

this is Livvie's new smirk for everything...quite funny...
Check out their shirts....funny....
DJ, practicing his song for his bride, Rachelle
Livvie loved hanging out in the sanctuary
Rehearsal Dinner.....YUMMY food, thanks to Nana and Bapa!
Livvie slept through the WHOLE dinner....
we had to bring her car seat in for her to catch some zzzz's

What a wonderful gift for Avery...a BRIDE BARBIE!
She was very excited!!! Livvie also got one!
Just some lovin' from Great Grandma Hilda and Nana Judy!
SATURDAY
THE NEXT MORNING.....
We awoke to snow.....lots of it.....

VERY messy and slippery roads! Not fun at all! Mommy and Avery went and had our hair done. Lots of fun being out in the snow and trying not to mess up your hair-do that you just paid $40 for....

Avery, all dressed up and ready to go!

Mommy and Livvie

We just thought they both looked so darn cute!
Oh la la Avery....

Livvie was such a ham

Um, yeah...the bride and groom with all of the flower girls/ring bearers. The whole bridal part was sisters and brothers of DJ and Rachelle, and all but 1 couple has children!

Nana was watching Livvie while mommy and daddy had their pictures taken!

just some huggin'

crazy Livvie!

Just loved those ruffles on her dress!
I don't have any photos of us walking down the aisle. PG and I walked together with Livvie and Avery with us. Each couple walked down with their kiddos, and it was really neat. Livvie fell asleep right before the ceremony, so Daddy carried her, and Avery threw her flowers in front of us!

Here's DJ singing to his Bride...
Off to the reception!
Uncle Jon and Aunt Holly...Did I ever mention that he used to work for Veggie Tales? Yup, he used to do lots of computer work for them, and he even came up with the title "Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Sampson's Hair Brush"... Talk about celebrity in our family! At their wedding, one of the creator's (Phil Visher) of Veggie Tales was there, and I asked him to do the voice of Bob the Tomato, and his wife did Junior's for me....I was star struck!

Avery with Kaleb and Carter....PG's cousin's boys

Oh yeah....during the ceremony, the pastor's robe caught on fire from the candelabras! He's Uncle Jon's Dad, so he's family....I saw the flames on him, so I told him that since I saved his life, I got to at least take a picture!!!!! It burned through his robe, and onto his shirt!

Livvie was crazy all weekend....she was a very busy girl...

Grandma Hilda met the bride's Grandfather. Both of them lost their spouses about 6 years ago, and they really hit it off. They talked, danced, exchanged phone numbers, and even kissed! How cute is that?

Avery tore up the dance floor with Carter. They were just adorable!
Here, Avery is showing him some of her ballet moves, and clearly, he just wants to be holding on to her hands.... Look at him cross his arms and pout while she's just doin' her thing...
So, she gives in, and back they are to dancing hand in hand.....
Our family, dancing the night away

The bride and groom!

SUNDAY MORNING...
Gift opening....

We left to come home around 4:30. Livvie fell asleep in Bapa's arms, and she didn't wake up till we were in our garage 2 1/2 hours later!

It was a wonderful weekend, filled with family and lots of memories. I probably could write a lot more about our weekend, but I'm STILL exhausted from having our whole family in the bridal party and just the stress of having lots of events and 2 kiddos. Plus, I promised my Mom to put the pictures up as soon as I could!
Congrats Uncle DJ and AUNT Rachelle!

Still alive.....

11:49 AM

We're still here in A-TOWN.....

Just to give you a taste of what we're going through, the newspaper this morning said...

"A-TOWN - Still DIGGING out"

I love first snowfalls and all, but not too keen on the giant amounts of snow...

Wedding was great, I have TONS of photos to go through!
