Finn's Birth Day

5:02 PM

We woke up early on Tuesday morning, 11-12-13 :)

We needed to be at the hospital at 9:30 to check in!  We packed up ourselves, all our stuff, and headed out with the girls by 8:15!  I believe we listened to Duck Dynasty Christmas CD on the way.

Daddy dropped the girls and I off at the doors, and went to park!  The girls and I got all registered, and taken up to our room.  Poor daddy spent around 30 minutes looking for a parking spot....not a great start to the day :(

Nana Dianne, Bapa Craig, and our friend/photographer Kristen showed up around 10:30 ish!  It was all becoming a reality now!  Daddy got all dressed in his scrubs, I was all prepped, and we were just waiting for the go ahead to head back to the OR.

Last photo as a family of FOUR!

Big baby belly!  So anxious to meet our sweet baby!

This was taken before they took me back!  We went to the OR at about 12:15ish.

Baby was monitored and had a great heart rate.  I only had ONE contraction the whole time I was hooked up!  Very obvious he wanted to stay put :)

On the way to the OR.  Feeling nervous, excited, and that I'm living someone else's life :)

The operating room was full of ladies when I got in....that made me much more comfortable.  They began getting the room ready, talked me through what was going to happen, and then the Anesthesia guy came in to get things going.  Nothing about the spinal hurt....I remember feeling that I couldn't believe that this was happening at this moment, and that within a little bit of time, we were going to have a baby!

Our Dr. was so kind to arrange for us to be able to watch the surgery...well, for ME to watch it.  They had a video above so I could watch what was going on.  After the baby came, it switched over to where he was getting worked on....

After the spinal took effect, and after they tested me to see if I could feel anything, they told Daddy it was his turn to come in!  Right when he sat down, the first cut began!

12:43.....we saw an ear emerging, so that was the first part of our baby that we saw.  Daddy turned to look at the screen as they pulled him out!  The cord was around his neck once, but he looked great!

He had BLONDE hair!  We were so shocked!

His apgars were 7 and 8....he was pretty gurgily, and had to cough and cry a bit to get going.

There is the screen that I was able to watch it all happen on!  And, there is daddy, videotaping his SON!

This is the moment where I fell in love again....with this sweet sweet boy that we named Finn :)

Pure bliss....I had been praying for weeks that I would feel the immediate bond with him once I saw him, and the Lord answered my prayers....I was smitten from the beginning!

What an incredible gift we had been given!

Dr Boyle and Finn

After the surgery, they wheeled me into the recovery room.  We could have 2 visitors at a time!  At first, Nana Dianne and Kristen came in and joined daddy and I and Finn.  Lots of pictures were taken, and oohs and ahhs!  The girls came in next, and then Bapa Craig as well.

I will never forget when they put Finn on my chest for the first time, and he lifted up his neck and head, and turned to the other side.....what a strong little boy!  He also had lots of kisses for mommy....LOVE!!!

Finn weighed in at 7 lbs 11 ounces.....(Olivia is 7 and Avery is 11 :)  He was 19 inches long.

more to come!

wow....

all pregnancy you look forward to being "done"....

today, I'm nervous to be "done"...

so anxious to meet this new little guy, to smell the sweet newborn baby smell, to soak in all of the baby-ness that is oh so fun!

i'm not sure if i remember how much work a new baby is....or how much sleep i won't be getting.

we've got our bags packed, and i believe we're as prepared as we can be!

Here we go.....

Olivia is Kid of Character!

7:16 PM

Olivia called me Friday morning from school to tell me that she was chosen as the Kid of Character! :)  She was so excited, and we were are so proud!  I went in to her class afterschool to get a picture of her in the shirt she got to wear, and the poster with her name :)

And, after shaving Winnie like a sheep, I still couldn't figure out how to trim the inside of her ears or get her nails nice and short.  So, I took her in.  Needless to say, they went a little happy on her poor ears, and now she looks like a schnauzer.  I think she feels ugly, too....

pregnancy

39 weeks

10:02 PM

I had my last OB appointment today!  So nice to not have to be doing that drive much more!  Baby's heartbeat was 125-130's, and I measured 40 weeks.  He also did a handheld ultrasound to see if babys head was down, and it sure was!  Had a blood pressure scare of 152/96, so I had to do labs again.  All came back okay, so we're on for the 12th!  Crazy that it's coming so soon!

How far along: 39 Weeks
Total weight gain: 30-32 lbs

Symptoms: tailbone pain, contractions, blood rushing to my legs and arms, uncomfortable, abdomen muscles feel like they are ripping

Maternity clothes: yup
Stretch marks: nothing new!
Sleep: waking up numerous times a night to go to the bathroom.  I'm drinking a TON of water, too, so that doesn't help.
Best moment of this week: helping the girls go shopping for a gift for their baby brother
Miss anything: sleeping a whole night, being able to sit without it hurting
Movement: he doesn't like to move much in the mornings, but he sure does move a ton.  His bum has been sticking up quite a bit, and then a foot or knee will kick out the side.  His head is also very low, and there are a lot of uncomfortable movements there, too.
Food cravings: no
Anything making you queasy or sick: no
Have you started to show yet: yes
Gender: boy
Labor signs:  tailbone pain, contractions, but not showing any signs of it being the real thing yet....
Looking forward to: Tuesday!

8:54 PM

a package for baby boy arrived today!  a friend made him the most adorable hat and matching "monster booties" as the girls call them! :)  Sooooooo cute!

Avery went to a marching band concert tonight, so it was just Liv and I!  We did pedicures, and she had "baby school", where she showed me how to use all of these items!  One more week....crazy!

pregnancy

38 Weeks

1:45 PM

Dr appt was on Thursday again.  Blood pressure was good, not dialating, heartbeat was in the 130's, and I measured right at 40 weeks.  We got to have a growth ultrasound, where baby boy looked perfect!  They are guessing he's right around 6 lb 5 oz.  Fluid levels are good, and he is engaged and ready to go :) And, still a boy!!! :)

How far along: 38 Weeks
Total weight gain: 28-30 lbs

Symptoms: tailbone pain, contractions, blood rushing to my legs and arms, uncomfortable, headaches here and there

Maternity clothes: yup
Stretch marks: nothing new!
Sleep: still loving my daily naps
Best moment of this week: my hour massage that was a gift from my momma!
Miss anything: having my body to myself
Movement: lots!
Food cravings: no
Anything making you queasy or sick: no
Have you started to show yet: yes
Gender: boy
Labor signs:  contractions still....more often, but nothing super crampy yet
Looking forward to: baby coming in less than 2 weeks!

ever let your kiddo eat the rest of the batter of your favorite cookies?

how about ever put tons of make up on  your 7 year old and let her be a princess "with lots of make up on" for Halloween?

here's that sheep....

lastly, ever go to the store and purchase camo and facial hair for your 11 year old daughter to wear for Halloween?

Baby Shower!

9:39 PM

I never thought that I would be going to a baby shower for MYSELF again.  What a surreal experience!  The ladies from church blessed our family so very much today with a shower for our sweet baby boy!

I picked out 4 different dressy outfits for Olivia to wear today, but as you can see, she wanted to be "sporty"...pick and choose the battles I guess :)

So thankful for these 3 kiddos, and Winnie too :) (not so thankful for the extra 30 lbs I'm packing these days)

Diaper cakes are so neato, and my friend Candice made this for us!

We had a brunch and dessert too!  Olivia was so excited for the red velvet cake :)  It was all so yummy!

Still so odd to see BLUE and BOY along with us....will take some getting used to!

The ladies were so wonderful to us.  After the baby gifts were opened, they then shared that it was also a "pastor's wife appreciation celebration" too.  They had more gifts, cards, and they each went around and shared what they appreciate about me.  It was a great time of sharing, and I was so blessed by the words and stories they shared :)

It was a beyond wonderful day :)
