a trip to the....

eye doctor.

Avery and I were driving around last night and I randomly asked her to read me signs that we drove past. She said a couple things were "fuzzy", and that made me think that she probably should take a trip to the eye doctor.

that was today.

so, after a bit of this,

and some of this,
it has been determined that yes, indeed, Avery will need a pair of these...

right now, it's only for seeing far distances which would be school. She is so very excited about getting glasses...she's been talking about it ALL day... A-L-L day... We'll have to pick out a pair soon, get them ordered, and try to get her used to them before school starts on August 19th (yes, August 19th...grrrr)

too cool for the pool!

We have been living (or what it seems) at the pool this week and last! The girls have been having a lot of fun playing, and the more time at the pool, the less time at home fighting!!!!

Most days we meet friends there, and today was no different! Here is Liv and her friend Kaylee having a little water break!

alive and coughing...

we had a great weekend with Nana Dianne and Bapa Craig and the puppies! Avery and Liv have been sick (no surprise there), but we all managed to have a fun time together!

Saturday, Avery had "Princess for a Day" with the summer rec program. She had a fun time doing all things girly, and was so happy that Snow White made an appearance!

Nana and Bapa left after church yesterday, and the rest of the day we relaxed!

today we were with our new friends from church for the whole day! We had a play date over at their house today, and then this evening we had 3 of the 4 kiddos over till after 10!

it's been a fun filled day, and I am very exhausted and ready to go to sleep!

our wednesday...

Avery is nasty sick with the cough/sore throat thing I had last week. Poor girl...She is supposed to start gymnastics tomorrow night, but I don't think she'll be able to go....

Liv is full of snot, so she is getting sick too...joy...

i'm thankful today for our neighbors. Our next door neighbors let us borrow their truck, to pick up a truckload of FREE mulch, provided by our neighbor across the street! now our house flower beds are swimming in mulch! I'm also thankful for Sara, who we found when we got lost, and she drove us to where we needed to go!

my parents are coming tomorrow evening and staying through Sunday. Always fun to have visitors, and we are looking forward to seeing them!

gifts from India

Uncle Josh and Aunt Kathryn just arrived back in the states from their visit to India. Today the mailman rang our doorbell and gave us a huge box full of goodies! Below are the girls in their new Indian attire...

Outfit 1...each girl is carrying a purse/bag with a matching little crayon holder in the same pattern (that kind of looks like a cell phone carrier). {they even sent me a beautiful wallet, too}

look at the beading and stitching...it's really incredible...
Outfit 2...not sure what these are called or if we're wearing them the right way, but they are beautiful!

the work it took someone to sew all these sequins and patterns on the outfits is something...
Thanks Josh and Kathryn! The girls LOVE their outfits...in fact, as I'm making this post, they are playing "India", and NOT FIGHTING! Praise the LORD!!!

goodbye ugly...

I don't post photos of our basement on here...don't think I ever have.

Our basement is what you would say, "old"and also it's a whole lot of "ugly".

When we moved into this house over 4 years ago, we thought we would work on the basement right away. The carpet is this yellow and orange totally ugly sight, and paired with the wood paneling it makes for a large ugly room.

We had no intention on doing anything with it any time soon...that is until today...

I have been itching to move lately...I want more usable space for the girls.

The thing is, is that our house has enough room...we don't need to more. We just need to use the basement more...We have this large basement space that is too ugly to want to spend time in.

Not any more.

Today I had the thought to try and see if the ugly carpet would come up easily. It did, for the most part.

The girls and I worked for an hour or so tonight on it, and we got most of it up! Here are some images I took with my phone for twitter....
Avery saw this and said, "Mom...it looks like a person!" Sure does!
Here is the finished product for tonight.

We are planning on giving the basement a warm color on the walls, and new carpet, and then hopefully it will be another space that our family can use!
And, then we can hopefully have a place for daddy's office, and maybe even a place for guests to sleep too!

in trouble...

my mother told me today that i have been bad at blogging. she thought maybe i was on some sort of vacation....oops...

i'm going to try to get better at blogging again.

so, here we go...

our weather has not been pool weather yet, but we decided to go over to the wading pool to celebrate the opening of the pool...
we only stayed for about 20 minutes, as the rain was coming in soon...
we're going to get a pool pass this week, and hopefully we will have a fun summer living at the pool...

Avery is involved in the reading program at the library this summer. every week there are activities that are going on. this last week was the "zoo man"...he brought 1 turtle and 3 snakes, and that was it...so disappointing...a boy from our church got to go up front and hold the boa though...he's the one with the shaved head...

and, a Susan Boyle look a like lives in our town....
besides that, i have been trying to survive each day with 2 crabby girls who are not getting along. Avery is so emotional and cries at the drop of a hat. Liv is attached to my hip, and having a problem when anyone says "goodbye" to her. add on to that my first summer cold with horrible congestion and sinus pressure, and you have lots of crabby pants in our home...

while driving around town...

Avery looks up at the sky and says to me..

"Mom...do you think that cloud is a cumulous or a sirius?"

Me: "Um, Avery...I'm not sure...what's the difference?"

Avery: "A cumulous cloud brings you rain sometimes, and the sirius clouds don't bring rain, they are just in the middle and the bottom of the sky."

I am almost convinced that my almost 7 year old is smarter than I am...
