Texas Trip Day 1 (Thursday)

6:18 PM

Our family has been looking forward to visiting our "May's" in Texas since Winter time!

There was to be a pastor conference, and so they invited us down for a week of FUN!!!

It took HOURS to get ready for this...lots of packing within restrictions, and rolling, etc, but we ended up with 5 PACKED suitcases, and 5 PACKED personal bags!

Our super awesome friend Terri volunteered to drive our family an hour to the airport on Thursday, June 14th!  Our flight was scheduled to take off at 5:20!

It was the FASTEST drive ever, and by the time we knew it, we were at the airport saying our goodbyes!!!

Daddy and I haven't flown since our honeymoon in 2000, which means our kids have never flown either. (well, the girls did go up in a small jet years ago around town)  We had no idea what we were doing, so it was rather comical!

After we printed off our boarding passes, it was time to head up to security!  Daddy felt the need to look at me and say "Now, listen....no joking around here about guns, or bombs, or anything!"  I think it was funny that he felt he had to tell ME to be on my best behavior!!

Security was kinda a breeze because we had read up and prepared for it by separating items and putting certain things in baggies!

We had about an hour to wait till boarding, so we just kinda sat.  The kids each took a motion sickness pill, just to be safe. (Olivia has a pretty finicky tummy)

Our little plane had just come in from Phoenix, so we ran to the window and watched all of the fun things that happen at airports!

When it was time to load up, we had all 5 carry on suitcases, and 5 personal bags!  We had to have our suitcases put in the cabin below because of the metal wheels, so less for us to take into the plane!

Daddy had to sit a row behind us, but he sure didn't mind.  Within seconds after sitting down, he made a new friend, Alberto, and they talked and talked and talked the whole.entire.flight.

Finn was my companion!  This kid was excited, and was up and down, and putting his tray down and up, and buckling and unbuckling over and over and over!

The girls were right across from us, and Liv is smiling back at where Daddy was sitting!

Take off was great, and we were off!  I took some video of Finn's commentary, which was really funny!  He was the only little guy on the plane, so either he annoyed everyone, or kept folks laughing!

I took this photo mid to late flight.  Liv wasn't moving.  She was sitting like this, watching a movie on her ipad.  Poor girl was feeling soooooo icky in her tummy!  Luckily, nothing came up, and after everyone else got off the plane after landing, we then leisurely made our way off the plane!

All our May's were there waiting for us, outside of the airport!!!  So nice to finally be able to see them!  The Dallas/Fort Worth airport is massive! We drove for 10 minutes and we were STILL inside it!  I couldn't believe how huge it was!

Apparently, the DFW airport is 30 square miles, and our town here is 14 square miles!  HA!

On to renting our car!  We rented an Armada, which was/is nicer than anything we have or will ever have again!!!

it was the tallest car in the parking lot on this day!!!  ha!

After taking care of the rental car, Daddy and Mr May drove in the Armada, and the rest of us drove with Mrs May and met Dexter and Jessi and the girls at iHOP for a 9 pm supper!

After that, down the road was our hotel!  Super modern and hip!

We were POOPED after a long day!  We unpacked everything, totally moved in, and then realized that our room hadn't been cleaned.  So, 11:30 at night, this crew was moving all our stuff to a new room down the hall!  Oh well!!! :)  Memories!!!!! ;)
