Wii entertainment

3:31 PM

My brother and his wife stopped through to my parents house on Sunday night. We all had a fun night of Famous Dave's and came home to play some games! Josh and Kathryn had just received a Wii as a gift, so we had some fun playing! :)

Here is Avery boxing Josh....

"That's right Uncle Josh...you best be putting up your blockers...I got a swing like you ain't never seen before.... ya wanna know where I get it from?".....
"That's right....my mom can bring the heat!"

Well, if I do say so myself, I did do rather well at kicking my brothers tail in boxing. Can you say KNOCK OUT? Hmm....I can!!! Kathryn took this picture...I guess we were moving a lot...is that why I'm still sore....2 days later?

Visiting my Grandma...

3:17 PM

Last summer, the girls and I went and visited my Grandma Vicki. Isn't she just the cutest thing? She has Alzheimer's, and hasn't said my name for years and years. At this time, one year ago, she was walking around, talking here and there, dancing, and generally a happy woman.

Fast forward to this last weekend. Not one year had past, and that sweet semi-vibrant Grandma, has transformed into the frail, stiff elderly that you pass in the nursing homes.

Grandma can't walk anymore. She had this sad frozen look on her face the whole time we were there. My mom gave her this camera case to fiddle with so she would stop fiddling with her shirt over and over again..... It's amazing how she has changed in the last year. When we visited last summer, she talked to me. She didn't have conversations with me, but at least she spoke. This time, I think she said maybe "yes" and "no" a couple times. She's very emotional, and has a sad look on her face as if she's saying "save me...get me out of this body..."
They had this cool swing thing at her home where she could be wheeled up on one side, and my girls and my mother could swing on the other side. I really wish Grandma could have gotten to know my girls...they would have brought her such joy...

Here is my family with Grandma...My husband hadn't seen her in over 2 years, so to say seeing her was a shock was an understatement...
Here is me, Grandma, and my mom.....

Poor Livvie

3:10 PM

Liv has been a slow teether. She only has 5 teeth, and she's 18 months old.
Avery had a mouthful by this time.

Well, besides being sick with a week long cold, Liv's teeth have finally decided to come out...at once. I can't even begin to see how many teeth are coming, but from the look of things, she's pretty darn miserable...wouldn't you be???? Her gums are swollen, she's a drooling snotty mess, and her fingers are constantly in her mouth....

Besides being in a lot of pain, she did manage to have a fun time at my parents house! :)
...more of that to come....

Home again....

9:45 PM

We had a fun relaxing time at my parents house! On the drive there, would you believe we drove through a snow storm...with freezing sleet? I tell ya, the weather this year has been one big crazy mess....

I'm going to take a couple of posts over a couple of days to blog about our trip, since I really just want to get some much needed sleep tonight....

Oh yeah, and tomorrow is my 29th birthday, on April 29th! My golden birthday.... Hard to believe that I once was little girl with the little curl right in the middle of her forehead!

What do I hope for? Well, I'm really hoping that Liv is in a super good mood...She's teething something terrible right now (more in another post) so I just hope the poor thing is feeling better. Lord knows I don't need another day of drool, snot, and crying.....

Hope you all have a wonderful Jennisa's 29th Birthday!

And, we're OFF

9:36 AM

The fam and I are just now getting the van packed for our trip to my parents house!
Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend! :)

A letter to my 18 month old.....

11:09 PM

Dear Sweet Baby Liv,

Today you turn 1 1/2 years old. 18 months ago we had the best birth experience imaginable,
and we welcomed little you into our hearts.

You have taken us on a wild ride this last 1 1/2 years.

You are at such a fun age right now.
Your bubbly and feisty personality is coming out daily, and you are learning new things all of the time.
You talk all-of-the-time! No one can understand what you're saying but you.
But, oh Liv....we love to listen to you talk. Daddy and I smile at you and are so proud of you!
You are so sweet. You love your daddy's affection and his attention.
You love to snuggle, to dance, to get in trouble.

Yes, miss Liv....you like to get into trouble.

And, when you know you're doing something wrong, you will look at me, wait for me to notice you, then you will do the naughty thing as fast as you can before I can get to you.
The word NO hasn't quite worked with you yet, but I'm still trying.

You like to be messy, which is the opposite from your prim and proper sister.
You're not done with your meal until some of it is on the floor, on your lap, smeared in your hair, and all over your face.

Oh, but Liv....my sweet Olivia.....you are just so precious.
You make me smile, you make me laugh, you make me thankful.
I am so glad that I am your mommy. You are a burst of energy in our little family.
You and your sister are our world....daddy and I love you to the moon and back....
imagine...God loves you even more.....

Daddy will LOVE this one....

11:10 AM

"Does Daddy know how to get to your parents house?"

"Yup, he does Avery."

"Because he's smart?"

"Yup, I guess so."

"He's smart....just like God."

Isn't it ironic?

9:48 PM

The snow finally melts, and the dreaded spring cold has gotten a hold of us. I thought it was my spring allergies beginning, and that my girls inherited them from me. Nope...

Avery will be home tomorrow from school for the 3rd day in a row.
Tonight, she spiked a temp of 102.3....pretty high for her.

She is missing out on a fun field trip to a butterfly house tomorrow....so sad...

Liv is also under the weather too. She's been a snotty mess and also coughing a ton...

Hope they get better before we leave on Friday....WHOO HOO!
Wisconsin (and VACATION, shopping, celebrating, family, fun, sleep, food)... here we come!!! :)

The "X-rated" Little Red Riding Hood....

8:54 AM

I was at work the other day, and there was this super cute Little Red Riding hood pop up book that I saw. I had to get it for Avery. She is reading like crazy, and I just knew she would LOVE it. To my surprise, this is what I read in the story....please, keep reading....

So far, innocent, right? Just like you've always heard it? Me too....read on....

Um, what? I thought Grandma was put in the closet....not "gobbled up"... Imagine my surprise as Avery and I are reading this. You think it's bad already? Um, no....keep going....

WHAT? I have lived almost 29 years, and never have I heard that poor Little Red Riding Hood gets eaten...are you KIDDING me???? But, again I say, read on.....

Are your jaws on the floor? Imagine as I'm reading this to my daughter....the daughter who has a photographic memory and who remembers everything....I was shocked, to put it lightly.

Well, I'm so glad that Grandma thought to let the kind woodcutter come and have some tea. After all, he did cut the wolfs tummy open to save them.....

I would LOVE to know if this is the Little Red Riding Hood you grew up reading. I guarantee you, this one will not be read here again...

Curly Sue...

8:37 PM

Today was the first day that I "did" Livvie's hair. After bath time, she has such beautiful curls, and by the time it dries they are gone. This morning for church I decided to use a little "product" on her hair. So, without further ado....debuting the curly haired Livvie......

6:39 PM

"Hubby, my jeans have gotten a little tighter lately....gol, that stinks.
You haven't noticed, have you?"

"Yes...." he says..."you wanted me to be honest, right?"

I think I'll think twice before I ask his opinion again.

11:21 AM

I went to a bridal shower last night for my dear friend Ashley! She's getting married on May 10th, and it was such fun to celebrate with her. I'm sure you know Ashley already. From this post and this one and this one and this one and this one

She is just the most awesome girl ever! I'm super excited for her and Dustin! My hubby will be marrying them, and I get to read scripture....twice! :) We have a babysitter for the night, so we will be sure to eat and dance it up with the new bride and groom! Love you, Ashley!

8:32 AM

Yesterday afternoon, as I was in my pajamas getting ready to take a shower, I heard a knock at my door. No one ever comes over to our house, so I just thought it was the mailman with a package or something. To my surprise, it was our good friends Marc and Monica and their 3 kiddos! We hadn't seen them in a year because they live around 8 hours away. Turns out, they were on their way to an interview for Marc, and thought they'd stop through! What a wonderful surprise it was....greasy hair and pajamas and all!

Here is all of our kiddos...
Liv, Avery, Lydia, Julie, and Bo
This photo was from a year ago.... Julia, Avery, and Lydia...I find it funny that Avery ended up in the same Dorothy skirt again...And, a year before that, at Chuck E Cheese...Julia, Avery, and Lydia

a silly post....

1:31 PM

What do you prefer...

Livie or Livvie???

I have been spelling her name Livvie because with one "v", I thought it didn't look like it sounded. BUT, I know lots of Livie's and no Livvie's....

How should I spell this little sweet peas name???

11:08 PM

So when your allergies act up, and the roof of your mouth is itching, what do you do?

GOOGLE READER PROBLEM...SOLVED...i think...

10:26 PM

Those of you who told me of problems, here is what you do!

Log into your google reader...
go to your HOME, overview page....
At the top, it should say something like this.....

"No unread items
You can browse the directory or add new subscriptions, and there's always Google News if you're looking for something more to read."

CLICK ON DIRECTORY...
it will bring you up on the RECOMMENDATIONS page...click the tab that says BROWSE
Go down to where it says "Keyword search" and type in "The Princess Diaries", or "My sweet little family" (I think the later is the one that works...)
My site should show up there, and when it does, hit SUBSCRIBE...

Please tell me if this works for you...it worked for me! :)

A great idea, that I would like to share!!!!

10:40 PM

My friend Mel had a Q & A session on her bloggie today. I thought that it was such a fun idea. So, here are some questions I have received that have yet to be answered!

What kind of camera do you use: Since the beginning of the year, I have been using a Nikon D40 SLR camera. I LOVE it! It's amazing how much more quality and speed it has over the regular digital cameras!

Where do the girls get their curls from? I have natural curly hair. If I didn't straighten my hair, it would be a big frizzy curly mess. They get them from ME....

Where does Avery get her "funny-ness" from? Avery has this amazing memory. I've never seen anything like it before. When she hears someone say something, she remembers it. If she reads a funny word, it will be in her memory. She just loves to try out her new words all the time, and I just LOVE that about her! (her mama is also a tad bit funny at times) :)

When did you sell out to the flatbread man? Dena asked me this one, and I have no clue what this means???? Dena, help me on this one.....

When your birthday is? April 29th...I will be 29 on the 29th....yup, write it down, take a picture, I will be 1 year away from the big 3-0.....no gray hairs yet, thank GOD!

Any more questions for me?????? I'd LOVE to answer them! Comment me!!!!!

My wet-heads

10:14 PM

Liv's curls are beginning to come out more and more!
Avery wanted to put her hair up "like mommy" after her bath tonight...
