Avery's lil photo shoot

5:43 PM

I usually take my kiddos to JcPenney every year to get their annual photos taken. I figured that this year, since I have my spiffy camera, I would do it on my own! Here is what 15 minutes out at "the gardens" with my 6 year old turned out like!

Yup, after 15 minutes, we were done.....

Which one is your favorite?

Our week....

9:33 PM

I've been a bad blogger this week...oops....here is a run-down of what Avery has been up to....

***Avery had her 6 year old appointment on Monday. Yes, the dreaded "kindergarten shots" appointment. I made daddy come with us, which also meant that Liv was along for the appt too. Surprisingly, Avery has gained a couple pounds. She now weighs......35 lbs! :) WHOO HOO!! She's now up in the 3rd % for her age! She is 25% for her height, so she's still managing to stay on the charts!

She did pretty well with the shots. She had 4 of them, plus a finger poke. The nurses (all 3 of them that helped to give the shots) said that she was really good. I can only imagine what they go through having to give shots to kids! Imagine kids who are royally ticked off, and in the 100% for their weight....try holding them down! geez....

**Avery started her "level 1" swimming lesson through the park and rec department. The best part...she's the only one in level 1, which means she gets ONE ON ONE attention from her teacher! We have had 4 lessons, and so far she has not improved one bit. I'm getting a bit frustrated, but I'm sure it will come with time.... Here are some photos of her in her class...

"C'mon Avery....try to blow bubbles...look how fun it is", says Matt, her teacher.

"Umm, it looks like fun, I'll try. How 'bout I just do pretend bubbles instead?", says Avery.

"Mom, take a picture of me to show your blog friends that I got my hair wet today!"

How 'bout a party?

12:06 AM

Avery's first "friend" birthday party was a success, if I do say so myself! My mom and I had such a fun time decorating our house in pink, black, and white!

This "Avery board" greeted all of her guests. She has grown up so much in her 6 years of life!

Avery was all dressed up in her Eloise outfit, and said a fun "hello" to all of her little friends!

After doing some introductions, we headed outside for a little craft. We painted some flowers and butterfly window decorations!

Say "Fabulous!"

After our painting, we went back inside and had a fun manicure! After that, we came back outside and did a relay race with some fun girly items, of course!

Next....the pinata! The girls loved taking swings, but the string broke before they could smash it all up. I had to tear it up myself. Oh well, candy for everyone!

Next, we went inside for birthday cupcakes and ice cream! My mom brought this firecracker thing from Famous Dave's....the girls LOVED it!!!

I love the expression on her face in this one!

The girls sang to Avery, and she was just so happy and had the biggest smile! :)

Say Cheese!!!!!

Next, we were on to opening presents! Liv had to get in on the action! Avery received so many wonderful gifts, and she has had a lot of fun playing with them all!

One more group photo!!!

"Thanks Mom....it was the bestest birthday ever!"

I want to introduce you to a beautiful couple, Marty and Stef. Stef has come to our church occasionally over the last 3 years. This is a photo of her and Marty on their wedding day last July. Look at them....don't they look so happy?Stef and Marty have dated since 7th grade. They married last July, after they both graduated from college. We didn't attend the wedding, but from what we heard (and see from the pictures), it was the most beautiful (and packed!) wedding...ever......

I share this adorable couple with you, because of a tragic ending to their happily ever after. Marty was pronounced dead today after the tractor he was working on went into a river on the farm. They would have celebrated their 1 year anniversary at the end of the month. Stephanie is now a widow, at the age of 23. All she has ever known, is the love of Marty.

Please, if you can, say a prayer for Stef tonight, tomorrow, and any time she comes to your mind.
